TF2-Avatar- Spirit hunting

Pyro had a strange childhood. His parents often treat pyro like a boy and sometimes a girl.
They weren't sure what gender there child was (heck pyro doesn't even know). But they had to avoid gender terms everytime.
Pyro's parents were against Spirits, they trained them selves to fight them off, and It was because a evil spirit attacked there village one night.
At the age of 4, pyro's parents told pyro to hunt a spirit down and capture it. But there was one small problem.
Pyro saw differently, all pyro saw was monsters, ghost (Doesn't count as a spirit, they are.... but they died as people), demons, and it was often that every thing around pyro turn into them. (like beds, lamps, chairs, and etc.).
Pyro saw the world as a scary place, and pyro parents would get upset (not mad, because they would be really angry at pyro) for not being brave or courageous.
Until one night deep in the (woods, caves, or old abandon building use your imagination), pyro was on a spirit hunt (alone).
Pyro was never been soo afraid, until a spirit called a balloonicorn came up behind pyro and help pyro get better.
Balloonicorn help pyro see things differently, pyro saw rainbows, butter-fly rabbits and many other things. (notice how I am avoiding gender terms)
Best of all the balloonicorn understood pyro, she felt all the fear and pain pyro went through, and that's when they formed a strong friendship.
Through the years, pyro kept the balloonicorn spirit a secret from his parents  and learn pyro ways of fire bending by monks, family, friend, or something.
And it wasn't until he met a metal bender and his friends, that pyro  started helping the avatar with his training. Thus new friendships were formed and pyro and many friends.
